My new bed & 10 things

My new bed finally arrived yesterday! It's much fluffier than the last one and Blizz is jealous. I let her sleep on it last night while I slept on the couch --- and yes I was allowed to sleep on the couch this time! So far we love the new bed. Mom is going to check another store to see if they have another one for Blizz.

I decided to make a list of 10 things about me that you may or may not know:

1. My middle name is "Bo" after mom's previous dog Charlie Bo. He was a Yorkie and sometimes she calls me by his name accidentally.

2. I once hid my Hamburger Helper in the side of the couch!

3. I love pizza.

4. I wake mom up around midnight every night to go outside.

5. Every time I go for a walk I have an "accident". Once a man yelled at mom to clean it up, she didn't and walked away!

6. In the car I HAVE to ride in the front seat and rub my wet nose against the window.

7. Once in the car I accidentally pressed down the window button and almost fell out the car!

8. I love children but not toddlers or babies.

9. I usually don't get along with other dogs except Blizz. If they come to my mom I get very protective and territorial.

10. I have escaped from the front door twice and once when the gate was left open and went wild. I scare the daylight out of mom when I do that. But hey, at least she cares!

Toy Massacre!

Yes, the above picture is that of a toy massacre. Mom bought us 3 new toys the other day and within 24 hours the massacre occurred. The big thing in the middle with all the brown stuffing coming out is what I used to call my bed. To the right of what I used to call my bed is the remains of a pink stuffed pig and to the upper left is the remains of a green stuffed frog. The 3rd new toy (a rubber red bear) was listed as MIA when this photographic evidence was taken. He later turned up in mom's bedroom and is now listed as a prisoner of war. We are thinking of releasing him into the nasty neighbor's yard at night, a top secret mission that I am only sharing with you all.

I didn't mean to destroy my bed but I was hiding the toys underneath of it and periodically had to check on the status of my prisoners and you know I have to use my mouth to physically pick up the bed and well it got out of hand. My teeth are just so strong and sharp! They really are a lethal weapon.

Blizz did not take part in the massacre. She sat contently watching the battle and was thoroughly entertained. She did as you can tell guard her bed from the invasion.

You may be wondering where I am sleeping now and it's actually a different spot each night. I start out getting underneath mom's bed on the cool hardwood floors which you might think is too hard but it's quite comfortable. It's nice and cool from the hot summer heat we are having lately and no one bothers me there. From there I usually go back into our room and lay on the carpet or wake mom up to let me go outside and sleep on the mat. If she lets me out and I don't come back when called she leaves me out till morning.

Mom is going to get me a new bed this weekend but will wait a while on the replacement toys. It was fun while it lasted.

Uh oh! Doggies on the couch!

Bad dogs, bad dogs, what 'cha gonna do when SHE comes for you? Okay so that's a bad remake of the 'COPS' song but we were really in trouble when we got caught on the couch last night. Blizz is not allowed at all on the couch because she sheds terribly, and me, well you can say I am only allowed when I am clean (which is never!). We were let go with a misdemeanor and no slap on the wrist. I even was able to keep my part-time security job in the backyard all night.

Still no attack plan has been engaged yet on the neighbor from hell due to the excessive heat and him of course staying home all the time since he has no job. We figure he's still alive and hiding in his house waiting for our attack.

Blizz is scheduled to go back to the vet this weekend to have her ears re-checked. She seems to be doing better so we're hoping for a full recovery.

Adios amigos! (Can you believe that a dog from Scottish descent can speak a little espanol?)

Blizz and me

Blizz had to go to the vet for her ears. She unfortuantely has an ear infection in both ears! I wonder if that's why one ear is always up? She hates taking her medicine too.
Mom wonders why I can't be as white and clean as Bella the Westie and Julep & Derby. She mentioned something about another haircut coming up...
By the way, her 30th birthday is this Saturday the 17th. Ha, ha she's getting old but she says 30 is the new 20. Go figure on that one!

That darn neighbor!

Just a quick update on the jerk neighbor situation. When mom got home from work and was going to check the mailbox he was coming out of his house with his daughter and he said hello. Mom said hello back but not in the most friendly way of course. He then proceeded to strike up a conversation but mom stopped him dead in his tracks! Before he could complete his thought mom asked why he called the cops on us when we weren’t even outside barking and of course he denied it. Mom then walked back up to the house and he was still going on and on that it wasn’t him, blah blah. She came in the house and let us out in the backyard and then there was a knock on the door. She immediately knew who it was and was furious he wanted to continue the conversation. But she opened the door and there he stood, in his stupidness! A conversation pursued and finally mom said “Okay it’s over with let’s move on”. Finally he retreated off the porch! What he said didn’t add up so we’re pretty sure it was indeed him. I wish mom would have let me at him!

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions posted, some were great ideas! Blizz and I have seriously discussed planning a full scale attack on his yard…but he’s so nosey that he looks out his window everytime he hears something…so it will be difficult. Plus he's ALWAYS home. We shall see. Maybe we’ll watch some movies like “Saving Private Ryan” or “Behind Enemy Lines” to get some pointers.

Wrongfully Accused!

Yes, that's right! I was wrongfully accused early Saturday morning. About 5:30 in the morning we got a knock on the front door and mom peeped out through the peep hole in the door and it was a policeman! She nervously opened the door thinking something bad had happened to our family but she was wrong. The officer mentioned that a neighbor had complained about dogs barking and she immediately stated, "But my dogs have been in the house all night". Supposedly our next door neighbor called and gave our address and another neighbor's address. Boy was mom mad! Not knowing who it was that called, she went down to the other neighbor's house who also got reported. She comes to find out that the neighbor in between us had called and the other accused neighbor said he was a jerk! So the next time she sees him boy is he in for it! Anyways, I've posted my mug shot and hope who ever else gets wrongly accused has a good mom like me to take up for them!

We are still here...

Hi everyone! Sorry we haven't posted anything in a while but mom got back from vacation and took a break from helping me blog. We're trying to catch up on everyone's blog and will be leaving comments again. Mom's been busy since she has gone back to work full-time and recently got a promotion all while dealing with her muscular dystrophy.

It's also been extremely HOT here the last few weeks and we haven't been walking or staying outside much. Blizz and I throughly enjoy the air conditioning! I'm glad I didn't live back in the day when there was no such thing as air conditioning. Believe me, fans just won't cut it in this humidity.

Mom's been thinking of getting us a little plastic pool for those HOT days. But then again, she's worried that I will roll around in the dirt after taking a dip in the pool. I say get the pool! Sometimes mom will squirt us with the water hose and Blizz just loves it. She jumps in the air and tries to drink the water.

Well I hope everyone is doing great and will be catching up on your blogs soon.

Out of the office...

Hello friends. We saw mom get out her big ugly suitcase today and got worried. She confirmed our suspicions and told us she was going on vacation without us. I know I've been putting in long hours at my part-time backyard security job but I haven't been ignoring her completely! Why must she leave us? She says we can't go where she is going which is to Nags Head, NC (otherwise known to us as the beach). The house our grandparents rented doesn't allow us fine specimens. In the meantime, our uncle Eric will be taking care of us but won't be helping us on the computer so we're putting up our "Out of office" message. We'll read your posts once mom is back to help us. Here's wishing her a great but hurry back vacation.

Part-time job

I have recently gone to a top secret job interview. And I was delighted (but not surprised) that they hired me on the spot. After all, I have mad skills. It turns out, I'm the new sheriff in town. Well okay, not in town but in my yard or 'garden'. I've been working almost every night, barking at anything and everything! My mom and Blizz have started to worry that I'm not getting enough sleep. My mom has tried to bribe me with almost everything at night and I still won't come in the house and give up my security post. Now I have the badge but need a uniform....I wonder if Bella the Westie has one I can borrow? Gotta run and get back to my security post....talk to you all later!

P.S. Remember this guy? I will NOT be doing his job.

Reflections of the past...

Some of you may have wondered how a westie and a pit bull got to be the best of friends. Well it all started back in 2002 when Blizz was adopted by mom's sister. For two years she ruled the house until I came along in 2004. I was a college graduation gift to mom and she was so happy to have me. By that time Blizz was already two years old and we lived together for another year. She taught me how to walk on a leash, how to bark and play. In 2005, we moved out from our grandparents house with mom and her sister (Blizz's original mom) to a new house. It was tough getting adjusted to a new house and new but smaller backyard. Then the unthinkable happened, Blizz and I were separated when mom's sister moved out. For about a year we were living separately until fate stepped in again. In 2008 mom's sister had a baby and she wanted my mom to take care of Blizz permanently. Mom happily obliged and you can say we lived happily ever after. I want to say thank you to Blizz for teaching me all about life and for putting up with my puppy ways. I know I occasionally still get on her nerves but she has been the best friend one westie could ever have. Please don't think badly of all pit bulls, as Blizz is a testament to her breed. May God give us many more days together.

Defending our turf!

Blizz and I were caught by mom defending our turf against a German Shepard! (Of course he was on a leash but we still showed him!)

Locked up!

Do you remember when my mom got us the new couch back in March? Well now due to Blizz's actions we have to be locked up at night! She keeps trying to use the couch as her bed at night and gets her hair all over it. So mom puts up a gate in the hallway to keep us in our rooms at night. Can you believe that?! All because Blizz can't control herself. Way to go Blizz!
I also had to go to the vet today. So I really felt like I was in jail there! I somehow got a sore on the back of my front leg and it looked really nasty. Mom was worried so she took me this morning but everything seems okay. I have to take some pills called antibiotics for a week so it can heal. Mom mentioned something about not digging for a few days, and I don't think that's an option for me! Come one guys, you've seen my holes! I've got to keep it up until the backyard is a total war zone.

Yum Yum!

Hello everyone, just thought I would share my favorite food with you. It's Cesar and it has my picture on the packaging! (Even though we all know I can't stay that white!) This one in particular is my favorite:

Another good choice in flavors:

Has anyone else tried this before? I won't eat anything else now unfortuantely for mom. It's a little more expensive than Pedigree, Alpo, etc. and not a lot comes in it, but it does fill my tummy up when mixed with dry food. Well mom's calling me for dinner, gotta run!

Bye-bye Easter bunny, holes & pollen

Mom got us some stuffed Easter bunnies on clearance at Wal-mart and look what I did to mine.

I'm so bad...look at these holes I've dug in the backyard

That's my lion ROAR!!

Mom's noticed that I've been getting red around my paws again, which means it's allergy season! Stuff like this tree pollen can really make me sick with itching. Does anyone else get allergies too?

Muddy Wednesday...

Before the bath...

The tub AFTER the bath!!! Sorry Mom!
We went for a walk and when we came back I went under the deck again and dug in the mud. I looked worse in person but that's the only picture mom could get of me; I was running from her so she wouldn't catch me and put me in the tub.

Yesterday was my birthday!

Yep, I'm six. I think six is a distinguished age for a chap like me. I've mastered digging, mudding, walking, sitting and even the grass roll over. (See video below) For my birthday Blizz and I were given a monster tasty bone. (I don't know why she got one too since it wasn't her birthday!) It was HUGE. (As you can tell in the pictures)

After all that rolling around in the grass though I was due for a bath, but mom let it slide yesterday since it was, after all, my birthday! The day was great even though it was cloudy but the night brought thunderstorms and Blizz and I don't like those. We kept mom up pretty late fussing over the storms but finally I came to rest in a pile of mom's dirty clothes on her bedroom floor. I don't mean to sound like a baby (gosh I am six!) but the scent of my mom comforts me. It takes a big man to reveal that about himself.

Till next time!

Tag you're it!

Tag I was it! Downunder Daisy tagged me and others to play a game. You have to open the first photo folder on your computer and post the 10th picture while giving some detail. Well here's mine:

It's Marie, my mom's niece. She likes to grab my tail! This picture was taken last fall sometime in October at my grandparents house. I wasn't there but she was out playing in the backyard. Gosh they grow up so fast!

Hopefully I played it right! Anyways, I now TAG Santa & Minnie plus Julep and Derby! Let's see what they come up with.

I love my Westie and new couch!

Yesterday about 11:30 in the morning we got a knock on the door. My mom locked me and Blizz up in our room so we couldn't see who it was. Finally after about 30 minutes we were released to the rest of the house and found a new couch was brought in. Looked very comfy so I had to try it out. (Blizz is not allowed on the furniture because she sheds really bad) That's me on it above. Indeed it was very comfy and nice. In fact I slept on it all night long and didn't get up until mom was about to go to work.

We also got a package in the mail. It was "I love my Westie" and "I love my Pit Bull" magnets for my mommy's car. We were so surprised! We know mom loves us but that much?! After a long exciting day I was exhausted and resigned to the floor in my room which is where mom was typing on the computer. But I'll be back to the couch for a long night's rest!

By the way, my birthday is this Sunday! I'll be six. Can't wait for that special treat.

Fun in the Sun!

Well gang the last few days have been wonderful with the sunny sun out. We've been taking walkies and getting good treats and of course more digging! The weather here is in the 70's and will be through the weekend. Big change from the last few weeks. Here's some pics of our fun in the sun:

Here's more on my digging skills:

You see gang, digging is a true science that I have mastered beyond my years. Even Blizzo thinks so......right Blizzo?

Rain, rain go away!

Well we've been couped up in the house the last 2 days because of the rain. However, our uncle Eric came by yesterday and took us out for a short walk while the sun was momentarily out. The floors have been covered in mud and mom isn't too pleased with that. But what's the point in cleaning them when we're just going to go outside again and bring more in? I think mom got the point after cleaning them twice! Hello, it's not like we have a toilet we can use inside! Here's hoping for a better sunnier week ahead as I also really need a bath!
Here's our mess in the kitchen:

And on the hardwood floors:

Digging for gold

Hello out there again! Sorry it's been a while since my last update but been busy. I'm getting more walks with my new harness and since the weather has been fantastic! But as soon as I say that the rain is coming. I want to send out a special thanks to my first "official" follower Bonnie the not so wee Scottie or otherwise known as ScrapsofMe. Thanks for checking me out and I'm adding you as a blog to follow.

Now back to my title, "Digging for gold", well you see my mom thinks I was digging for gold for her to wear but I was actually digging to hide my bone from the other day. You see, my companion Blizz found out where it was and I had to re-hide it again underneath the deck. Mom's been meaning to fix that hole underneath so I can't get there and get dirty, but she hasn't yet to my enjoyment.

Here's a sneak peak at my digging skills on this video:

Blizz was none the less than thrilled at my digging skills, as you can tell by her facial expression below:

Visitors...

We finally had some visitors! Me and Blizz love visitors to our home. Our mom's friends from North Carolina came by last Friday with their little girl Kenzie. Kenzie just loved me and I loved her too! We sat in the recliner and she petted me over and over, I was in heaven! Blizz didn't miss out either as another guest was in love with her and got the same amount of attention.

We need more visitors to our home! Here's a pic of me and Kenzie:

She's my new best friend! Wish she lived closer though so I could see her more often. By the way, update on our mom Brooke. She hasn't been feeling too good but we managed to get a walk in today since the weather was so great. She's been tired a lot lately and the doctor put her on some restricted work hours. This getting older really stinks for all of us. Speaking of that, my sixth birthday is March 28th. Nothing special planned, just a great treat probably. Well till next time, cheerio!

Look at my dirty nose!

Can you see my dirty nose?! I was given another tasty bone and took it outside and buried it. Unfortuantley my momma didn't like that I did that and snapped this picture of me. No more bones until the mud clears up outside! Blizz did the same thing and her's was washed off more easily than mine. Here's another look:

Goodbye Hamish...

Yesterday we learned that Hamish the Westie passed away after 14 years of life. We are truly heartbroken as we only learned of his blog a month ago. He inspired me to write my own blog and our prayers are with Gail his owner/mom. R.I.P. dear Hamish and we'll see you one day in heaven. www.hamishthewestie.blogspot.com

Caught with toilet paper---literally!

Yes, I was indeed caught with toilet paper yesterday morning. For some reason or another I got into the bathroom trash can and pulled out almost everything. Boy was I in trouble though. No tasty bone treat for me! I will try to do better. Cheerio!

Why don't cha get a haircut!

Well I got my haircut afterall. How do you like my look? I think they cut it too short on the body but they wouldn't listen to me. I like longer hair that I can drag around in the dirt and mud, you know? Oh well, life goes on here in Hopewell. Me and Blizz went for a walk the other day but it was so cold we had to cut it short again. We're hoping with the good weather this weekend that Brooke (our mom) will take us out again but lately she's been preoccupied with a new nephew. His name is Brody or something. Till next time, woof!

This week in review

Blizz enjoying her bone
Me enjoying my tasty bone

Hello again! This week has been a slow one but Blizz and I got our favorite treat on Wednesday, BONES!! We love them and they keep us quiet for about 30 minutes depending on how big they are. Tomorrow I have to go get my haircut and I am not looking forward to it, well maybe the car ride there. Last time they had to charge my mom a handling fee because I was not feeling it! Hopefully this time will be easier. We are also hoping to get out and walk the neighborhood this weekend but last time Blizz got angry at another dog barking at her and we had to cut it short. By the way, Happy Valentines day!
